Jose Luis grew up in Cancun & the Riviera Maya, which allowed him to admire the underwater world from the early age of 8. His father was a diver and he passed on his passion for the sport to Jose Luis.
He began diving when he was around 12 and it captured him since then. A few years later he decided to make watersports and outdoor adventures his way of life, and has been involved in the dive industry since 1998.
He became a Professional Diving Instructor in the early 2000 ́s and since then, he has been fully and professionally committed to this noble industry working full time in it.
In 2003 he earned his Full Cave Diving Certification and became a full time Cave and Cavern Guide, giving him the chance to log thousands of cave and cavern dives.
Diving in the overhead environment opened the door to a whole new world and increased his appetite to learn more and more about Technical Diving.
In 2005 he went traveling and ended up in the Red Sea working for Sinai Divers in Egypt, where he had the chance to work aboard live aboard boats guiding diving tours and teaching.
When Jose Luis came back to Mexico he was ready to build his technical diving career and became a technical diving instructor in 2007, he started diving and teaching technical diving in the sea and some deep cenotes giving him the opportunity to log numerous amounts of tech, trimix and cave dives, after having the opportunity to increase his skills and knowledge he took the decision to become a Technical Full Cave and Trimix Instructor earning these ratings in 2012.
